[00:00:03] Welcome to Ill Communication, Copywriting, Tips and sales strategies for small Business. I'm your host, Kim Keel. I'm a copy coach, sales strategist and direct response copywriter. It's my mission to help women leaders and change makers amplify their voices through copy. It's why I'm dishing out all the juicy tips, writing prompts and sales formulas to help you generate more leads, book more calls, and get more high value clients on repeat. Sounds pretty good. It's time to ditch the overwhelm you might be feeling and find confidence in your copywriting so you can get your message out there and attract more soulmate clients. Let's get started. Welcome to episode 57. In today's episode, you're going to get a writing prompt that is perfect [00:01:00] for this time of year, and you're going to get a resource to help you check in and assess how your copy and sales strategies are supporting you and your business. So make sure you listen to the whole episode to make sure you get all the goods. Now, for many of us moms, it is the most wonderful time of the year. After being bored at home for eight plus weeks, endlessly stuffing their faces with handfuls of crackers, chips and every other salty carb and begging us to drive them hither and thither. Our kids are finally back in school Now, depending on where you live, kids in your community may have been in school for several weeks already. Or maybe they start next week. Either way, the back to school vibe is everywhere. There's a feeling of newness in the air, a fresh start, which kind of think is actually at odds with the end of summer and the start of fall.
[00:01:52] But for me and many others, this time of year makes me want to push the reset button on my life and business and start [00:02:00] fresh. And it's a great time to check in and assess how our businesses are doing, especially since there are only four flipping months left in 2023. How is that possible? It's why I'm excited to share with you a brand new, very handy resource I've created called the Sales Copy Scorecard. It's a tool you can use to assess the health and effectiveness of your sales copy. Now, when I'm referring to sales copy, I mean all the copy and messaging you share in the world that helps create connection with your customers and drive more sales. So we're talking about your website, copy your bios, your free gift funnel, those email sequences you send or don't send your unique framework or mechanism and how you set up and execute your promotions and launches. This scorecard is like a mini report card. It gives you a chance to check in and see how you're doing today. You see many schools do assessments right at the start of the [00:03:00] school year to assess where the students are academically, and it gives the teachers Intel on any gaps they need to fill before moving on with the curriculum. When you complete your sales copy scorecard, you'll be able to identify any gaps and priorities for your business.
[00:03:16] It will show you a few quick wins and easy strategies you can tweak or add into your sales ecosystem so you can improve your score and your sales over time. The scorecard isn't a one and done. It's a snapshot in time. As you implement 1 or 2 new strategies, you can assess yourself and continually improve your sales copy and generate more revenue. And like everything I do, it's very simple and easy to use. It's just a simple Google sheet with a few sections to help you assess your score and track your progress over time. Grab your Sales Copy scorecard at Khimki NHL.com Slash Scorecard. You'll enter your name [00:04:00] and email, and then I'll send the scorecard over to you. Plus, you'll have an opportunity to hop on a private call with me to review your results and see if we can find some quick wins for you. And I promise it won't be as scary as getting called into the principal's office or anything. So go ahead and assess your sales copy at Khimki NHL.com Scorecard. Now, at the top of the episode I mentioned you'd also get a writing prompt. Any guesses what it is? The prompt is the back to school spirit. Create an email, a blog, post, a social post, or a podcast that ties into the back to school theme. You could express this in a couple of different ways. You could create a post or an email related to back to school supplies or back to school shopping. Review the essentials your clients need for this time of year, whether it's in their business or their life.
[00:04:55] Now, when I shared this prompt Inside the Joy of Copy Club, we thought this kind of post would [00:05:00] be perfect for the therapist in our group. She has a program to help teachers thrive through all the stresses of being an educator today. So her back to school supply list might include things like a journal, prompt walking audio meditations, deep breathing exercises, or scheduling self-care into the calendar. I share this with you so you don't get locked into thinking the supplies need to be things you buy. They can actually be things you do. Of course, another way to harness the back to school vibe is to create a report card, a scorecard or an assessment tool where you invite your audience to assess their progress in different aspects of their business or life. And this episode and the sales copy scorecard is your example. Now, as always, with every writing prompt I share, I like to include some subject line and headline inspiration for you. So here goes. Back to School Business Edition. Back to school supplies you [00:06:00] didn't know you needed. Back to school supplies for teachers. It's not what you think. Report card time. How'd you do? And what grade would you give yourself? So there you have it. With all the back to school advertising and changing seasons, it's a perfect time to create content that ties into this seasonal theme, and it's a great time to do a little check in and assessment on your own business.
